Turon is the Guatemalan name for divinity frosting. It makes a great topping for Tres Leches Cake or Chocolate cake.
Turon
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. white corn syrup
1/2 cup cold water
3 egg whites
Put egg whites in a bowl with beaters. Set aside. (do no beat yet)
Cook sugar, corn syrup and water until it gets to a hard ball stage. It will be foaming on top. Quickly beat sugar mixture into egg whites until it cools down.
Spread over cake. Use a fork to make a decorative design in the turon.
