German Pound Cake

Buttery, moist and flavorful- we like to use it as a base for strawberry short cake.

German Pound Cake

3 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Shortening (or coconut oil)
5 Eggs
3 Cups Flour
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 cup milk
1 Tblsp. Vanilla
1 Tblsp. Butter Flavoring
1 Tblsp. Almond Flavoring

Beat first four ingredients until creamy and light yellow. Mix flour and salt separately. Beating well after each addition alternately add flour mixture and milk. Fold in the flavorings. Bake in well greased and floured tube pan at 325 for one hour and 30 minutes. Start in a cold oven. Remove from pan and cool.

*The original recipe was found in a large international cookbook and called for twice the flavorings.
